To strengthen autonomous mobile robots (AMR) portfolio ABB agreed to acquire ASTI Mobile Robotics Group (ASTI). Burgos, Spain based ASTI Mobile Robotics Group (ASTI), a leading global autonomous mobile robot manufacturer with a broad portfolio across all major applications enabled by the company’s software suite.

  • The deal will expand ABB’s robotics and automation offering, making it the only company to offer a complete portfolio for the next generation of flexible automation.
  • The supports one of Europe’s largest installed fleets of AMRs and has a broad customer base in automotive, logistics, food & beverage and pharmaceuticals in 20 countries.

July 2021: For the development of next generation of flexible automation, ABB announced to acquire ASTI Mobile Robotics Group (ASTI). The Spain based ASTI is a leading global autonomous mobile robot (AMR) manufacturer.

March 2021: For sustainable future Tokyo based Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Switzerland based ABB Ltd. The partners will explore the opportunities for mine operators to target net-zero emissions from mining machinery.

March 2021: In order to expand presence in Africa, ABB has announced to power Total-led Mozambique LNG Project. ABB has signed a deal with CCS JV, comprising Saipem, McDermott and Chiyoda to provide comprehensive integrated and intelligent electrical systems for the east-African Mozambique LNG field.

Sep 2020: The ABB announced that it is had invested approximately $43 million in new research and development facilities and office space in Turgi in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. The new multipurpose building will be constructed by 2024, which meets the highest standards for energy efficiency and collaboration among employees.

July 2020: The e-mobility solutions provider ABB had started the construction of new facility for electric vehicle charging infrastructure in San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy. The $30 million facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

May 2020: ABB had entered into an agreement with Norway’s largest grocery wholesaler ASKO, and its owner NorgesGruppen, to supply charging infrastructure for its growing fleet of electric trucks.

March 2020: ABB had completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Chinese e-mobility solution provider Chargedot Shanghai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.. Shanghai-based Chargedot has made a substantial contribution to the electric vehicles in China.

March 2020: ABB had announced its partnership with motorsport and automotive specialist Sauber Engineering AG – a company of Sauber Group – as an Official Global Technology Partner. The partnership will focus on leveraging e-mobility and carbon neutral development projects.

March 2020: ABB announced the divestment of its solar inverter business to the Italian company FIMER SpA. The transaction enables ABB’s Electrification business to improve the focus of its business portfolio on priority growth markets and enhance business opportunities for the solar inverter business under FIMER
