The leading steel producers PAO Severstal, has announced a new long-term contract with Air Liquide. As per agreement Air Liquide will supply of oxygen to the Severstal CherMK site in Russia. Air Liquide will invest approximately $68 million to construct a state-of-the-art Air Separation Unit (ASU) in Cherepovets.

  • The new Air Separation Unit (ASU) will one of the largest oxygen sites in continental Europe.
  • The new unit will produce 1,000 tons of oxygen per day. This is the fourth ASU installed by Air Liquide in Cherepovets • Planned to be started up by the end of 2023

The prominent deals and investments by Air Liquide are mentioned below:

March 2021: To expand presence in Kazakhstan, Air Liquide announced to acquire hydrogen and nitrogen production units from Atyrau refinery for approximately USD 103 million. Air liquid acquires through its joint venture Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases (ALMTG).

Feb 2021: To expand battery production in Germany BASF has signed a new long-term contract with Air Liquide. As per contract Air Liquide will supply oxygen and nitrogen to one of the BASF’s largest and most innovative European sites, located in Schwarzheide, Germany.

Jan 2021: To expand presence in French market Air Liquide acquired a 40% stake in the capital of the French company H2V Normandy, a subsidiary of H2V Product. H2V Normandy builds a large-scale electrolyzer complex of up to 200 MW for the production of low-carbon hydrogen in France.

Dec 2020: Air Liquide expands production and distribution capacities in United Kingdom. ASDA a the leading retailers had contracted Air Liquide to install and operate six biomethane (BioNGV) distribution stations to refuel trucks on its sites.

July 2020: The South Africa based leading energy and chemical company Sasol announced that it had signed an agreement for Air Liquide to acquire the biggest oxygen production site in the world located in Secunda in South Africa.

July 2020: Air Liquide announced an investment of $141 million to build the first world-scale Air Separation Unit (ASU) for oxygen production at Port of Moerdijk in the Netherlands. The plant will have a production capacity of 2,200 tons of oxygen per day.

July 2020: Russian steel producer NLMK had announced that it entered into a new long-term partnership with Air Liquide. As per agreement Air Liquide will invest approximately $113 million in the flagship site of NLMK in Lipetsk, Russia.

July 2020: Air Liquide had announced a long-term agreement with United States based Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI), one of the largest steel producers and metals recyclers in the coumtry, to supply gaseous oxygen, and nitrogen. As per agreement Air Liquide also supply argon to SDI’s new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel mill in Sinton, Texas.

July 2020, Air Liquide announced a joint initiative with the Port of Rotterdam Authority, which aims at enabling 1,000 hydrogen-powered zero-emission trucks on the roads connecting the Netherlands, Belgium, and western Germany by 2025. Several partners representing the whole supply chain, from truck manufacturers such as VDL Groep, Iveco/Nikola to transport companies Vos Logistics, Jongeneel Transport and HN Post, as well as leading fuel cell suppliers have already agreed to join.

April 2020: Air Liquide announced to invest $210 million to build production capacities in the Science Parks of Tainan and Hsinchu, respectively located in the South and the North of Taiwan. Under a long-term commitment with a semiconductor market leader, this investment in new production capacity will allow the Group to supply three high volume semiconductor fabrication plants under construction in Tainan Science Park, as well as some of the world’s most advanced R&D fabs for logic IC chips in Hsinchu Science Park.
