Feb 2021: To accelerate research in powder coatings, AkzoNobel opened a new R&D lab in Como, Italy. The new research facility features an application lab, process lab, and analytical and testing lab is dedicated to delivering low cure powder coatings for use on heat-sensitive substrates (such as MDF, plywood, thermoplastics and composites).
Dec 2020: To expand coating business AkzoNobel announced to acquire New Nautical Coatings. The deal helps to increase AkzoNobel presence in the North American yacht coatings market.
Oct 2020: To strengthen paint business in Europe, AkzoNobel announced to acquire the decorative paints business of Spains Industrias Titan S.A.U. Spains best-known brand Titan, has a relevant presence in Portuguese market.
Sep 2020: AkzoNobel had completed the acquisition of Stahl Performance Powder Coatings and its range of products for heat sensitive substrates. The deal gives the company accelerated access to unique low curing technology that will open up exciting new market opportunities.
April 2020: AkzoNobel had completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Mauvilac Industries Limited, a leading paints and coatings company in Mauritius. The transaction includes a local production facility, four concept stores and access to a strong distribution network. The acquisition of Mauvilac strengthens AkzoNobels footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa and supports its leading position in the African decorative paints market.
March 2020: Akzo Nobel N.V. had completed the acquisition of the remaining 25% stake in Akzo Nobel Boya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., a leading powder coatings joint venture in Turkey. The company has now acquired full ownership, having previously held the majority share. Following a successful partnership, the deal will help to consolidate AkzoNobels strong position in powder coatings in Turkey, one of Europes largest powder coatings markets.
