For expertise in braking systems, Alstom announced the acquisition of Flertex. France based Flertex, specialised in braking systems, particularly for the rail industry. Flertex designs and manufacture brake linings such as pads and shoes for different brakes.

Feb 2021: To boost sustainable mobility, Alstom had completed the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation. The transaction strengthen Alstoms leadership in the growing public transportation market by reaching a critical size in all geographies and integrating further solutions.
Dec 2020: Alstom had announced to acquire a minority stake in Israel-based company Cylus for US$7 million. The agreement includes a strategic cooperation agreement to build a commercial partnership to combine their respective strengths and provide best-in-class cybersecurity solutions for the rail market.
July 2020: The hydrogen train manufacturer Alstom along with the state of Lower Saxony and the Elbe-Weser Railways and Transport Company (EVB) are the project partners for the first hydrogen filling station for passenger trains to be built in Bremervoerde, Germany. The global hydrogen gas leader Linde will build and operate the hydrogen filling station near Bremervoerde station on behalf of the Lower Saxony Regional Transport Company (LNVG).
June 2020: Alstom had signed a five-year agreement with Snam to develop hydrogen trains in Italy. Snam, is one of the worlds leading energy infrastructure companies.
May 2020: Alstom had delivered the first of the 12000-horsepower, Prima T8 electric locomotives to put into commercial service by Indian Railways. The new electric locomotives were built by Alstom and certified by the Ministry of Railways and Commissioner of Railway Safety/RDSO.
February 2020, Alstom had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bombardier Inc. and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) in view of the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation for approximately USD 6.4 million.
February 2020: Alstom had signed a contract worth approximately $105 million, as per agreement it would manufacture, deliver and maintain until 2032 eleven Coradia Continental battery-electric trains for regional traffic on the Leipzig-Chemnitz route on behalf of VMS (Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen) and with the support of ZVNL (Zweckverband für den Nahverkehrsraum Leipzig), the two authorities responsible for this line.
January 2020: Alstom signed approx. $800 million deal to refurbish and maintain Avanti West Coast Pendolinos. Britains most iconic train fleet is to undergo a major refurbishment that will create scores of high-skilled engineering jobs and secure hundreds more roles throughout the UK.
