Aluminum packaging technology provider Ball Corporation plans to build a new U.S. aluminum beverage packaging plant in Pittston, Pennsylvania with initial investment of more than $300 million. The multi-line plant will create approximately 230 manufacturing jobs.

In March 2020: provider Ball Corporation agreed to acquire Tubex Industria E Comercio de Embalagens Ltda, an aluminum aerosol packaging business with a plant near Sao Paolo, Brazil, for $80 million. The transactions includes associated contracts and other related assets.
After this acquisition the Brazil plant will become the part of Ball’s aluminum aerosol packaging division and complements Ball’s global aluminum aerosol and slug business in Europe, North America and Asia. The Sao Paolo-facility includes eight extruded aluminum aerosol can lines, which produce personal care packaging for international customers located in Brazil. The Sao Paolo plant has approximately 300 employees.
In February 2020, Ball Aerospace along with Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), jointly launched the Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) instrument. GEMS was integrated onto KARI’s GEO-KOMPSAT-2B satellite. The GEMS will be the first air quality sensor in geostationary orbit where it will help monitor pollution particles or events in the Korean peninsula and Asia-Pacific region.
