The leading lithium-ion battery materials supplier Shanshan and BASF announced to form a BASF majority-owned joint venture (BASF: 51%; Shanshan: 49%). The new joint venture will produce cathode active materials (CAM) and precursors (PCAM) in China.
- BASF will contribute its strength as a leading global CAM supplier to the automotive industry with strong technology and development capabilities, global operations footprint, as well as strategic partnerships for raw materials supply.
- By forming the intended joint venture in China, BASF further strengthens its position in Asia to build up an integrated, unique global supply chain for customers in China and worldwide.

May 2021: To drive circular economy business, BASF announced the expansion of its Seneca, South Carolina, USA, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) refining facility. The expansion will increase refining capacity to recycle precious metals from spent catalysts such as automotive catalytic converters.
Feb 2021: To expand battery production in Germany BASF has signed a new long-term contract with Air Liquide. As per contract Air Liquide will supply oxygen and nitrogen to one of the BASFs largest and most innovative European sites, located in Schwarzheide, Germany.
Dec 2020: To expand in ASEAN market BASF opened new ASEAN Technical Development Center adjacent to its existing Polyurethane (PU) System House at Bangpoo site in Thailand. The new ASEAN Technical Development Center also boasts several new service upgrades, such as more advanced testing and software capabilities.
Nov 2020: The global advanced additives manufacturer BASF has increased the production capacity for advanced additives at its wholly-owned site in Nanjing, China. The strategically located in the logistic hub, the new facility will enable BASF to serve customers across end-use industries, including coatings, adhesives, printings, and composites.
Sep 2020: Chinese oil and gas company SINOPEC and leading chemical company BASF announced a 50-50 joint venture BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. (BYC) to expand the production capacity of neopentylglycol (NPG) at the state-of-the-art Verbund site in Nanjing, China.
Aug 2020: BASF announced that it is investing to double its global Uvinul A Plus production capacity in Taiwan. The company is setting up a new line at its Kaohsiung site in Taiwan to produce Uvinul A Plus.
Aug 2020: To serve customers more efficiently, BASF announced to increase its alkoxylate capacity in Asia Pacific, with its latest investment in Jinshan, China. The company has acquired assets of SPC, related to alkoxylates production in Jinshan.

February 2020: BASF announced a new battery materials production facility in Schwarzheide, Germany. The new plant is a part of the companys multi-step investment plan to support the European electric vehicle (EV) value chain. January 2020: BASF announced the completions of the acquisitions of Solvays polyamide (PA 6.6) business for approximately $1.4 billion. The deal broadens BASFs polyamide capabilities with innovative and well-known products such as Technyl. January 2020: BASF builds a new regional production hub for its Agricultural Solutions business in Asia Pacific. The companys new production hub for crop protection constructs in Singapore.
