To expand in ASEAN market BASF opened new ASEAN Technical Development Center adjacent to its existing Polyurethane (PU) System House at Bangpoo site in Thailand. The new ASEAN Technical Development Center also boasts several new service upgrades, such as more advanced testing and software capabilities.

  • The new facility houses a state-of-the-art pre-polymer reactor technology to produce a hardener (component B) – a key component to boost product development efficiency, thereby enabling faster time-to-market of PU materials and solutions
  • The advanced reactor technology is further designed to deliver on a much larger capacity, meeting most demanding customer requirements across all grades.
  • The new pre-polymer reactor technology is additionally capable of developing customized PU System products, which helps improve the commercialization of these specialized solutions.

Nov 2020: BASF has increased the production capacity for advanced additives at its wholly-owned site in Nanjing, China. The strategically located in the logistic hub, the new facility will enable BASF to serve customers across end-use industries, including coatings, adhesives, printings, and composites.

Sep 2020: Chinese oil and gas company SINOPEC and leading chemical company BASF announced a 50-50 joint venture BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. (BYC) to expand the production capacity of neopentylglycol (NPG) at the state-of-the-art Verbund site in Nanjing, China.

Aug 2020: BASF announced that it is investing to double its global Uvinul A Plus production capacity in Taiwan. The company is setting up a new line at its Kaohsiung site in Taiwan to produce Uvinul A Plus.

Aug 2020: To serve customers more efficiently, BASF announced to increase its alkoxylate capacity in Asia Pacific, with its latest investment in Jinshan, China. The company has acquired assets of SPC, related to alkoxylates production in Jinshan.

July 2020: BASF announced that its Coatings division has signed a cooperation agreement with Jaguar Land Rover(JRL) to support the development and implementation of JLR’s Global Body & Paint Programme covering 16 importer countries and markets in Asia Pacific.

July 2020: BASF Venture Capital a corporate venture capital arm of BASF Group, announced that it is investing in the Shanghai-based startup SmartAHC, a leading supplier of digitalization solutions for pig farming on the Chinese market.

April 2020: BASF Corporation is supporting the USA to fight against COVID-19 pandemic with hand sanitizers. The company provides hand sanitizer to the state of New Jersey and New York which produced at the company’s facility in Washington, New Jersey at free of charge.

February 2020: BASF announced a new battery materials production facility in Schwarzheide, Germany. The new plant is a part of the company’s multi-step investment plan to support the European electric vehicle (EV) value chain. The facility will help the company to strengthen its global leadership position in battery materials for electric vehicles.

January 2020: BASF announced the completions of the acquisitions of Solvay’s polyamide (PA 6.6) business for approximately $1.4 billion. The deal broadens BASF’s polyamide capabilities with innovative and well-known products such as Technyl. The acquisition will allow BASF to support its customers with even better engineering plastics solutions, e.g., for autonomous driving and e-mobility.

January 2020: BASF builds a new regional production hub for its Agricultural Solutions business in Asia Pacific. The company’s new production hub for crop protection constructs in Singapore. The new multipurpose facility has been designed to handle six different formulation technologies and will supply the company’s patented crop protection products to farmers across the fast-growing Asia Pacific region.
