For the enhancement of green energy, Carrefour has decided to join forces with Meridiam. The essential infrastructure company Meridiam will completely fund the charging service offered by Carrefour. This partnership shores up its commitment to build sustainable infrastructure that has a positive economic, social and environmental impact.

  • Meridiam will entrust implementation of this new project to Allego, Europe’s leading charging hub provider which currently operates more than 25,000 charging points.
  • Carrefour is rolling out an electro-mobility service completely powered by green energy
  • 2000 terminals will gradually be installed between now and 2023 across all of the Group’s hypermarkets in France.
  • Each hypermarket will have an average of ten of its parking spaces fitted with recharging systems.

Nov 2020: Carrefour Group acquired France based organic food leader Bio c’ Bon banner. The Paris Commercial Court has validated the Carrefour’s deal.

Aug 2020: To strengthen in Spain Carrefour had announced an agreement to acquire 172 stores under the Supersol banner. Carrefours with this deal strengthen its number two position in the country. The transaction involves 172 convenience stores and supermarkets, located mainly in Andalusia and the Madrid region.

June 2020: Carrefour had entered into an agreement with Hong Kong based Dairy Farm to acquire Wellcome Taiwan, consolidating its position as the leading multi-format food retailer in South East Asian market.

In April 2020, In response to COVID-19 pandemic Carrefour join forces with Uber Eats to meet France’s grocery needs. As per agreement the service will start with around fifteen Carrefour stores in Paris and the Paris region and will then be rolled out nationwide.

February 2020, Carrefour announced partnership with global nutrition company Nestlé to help parents to give their children a healthier and more sustainable food, and promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

February 2020, Grupo Carrefour Brasil had signed an agreement with Makro Atacadista SA to acquire 30 Cash & Carry stores in Brazil, accelerating the expansion of its growing Atacadão format. The acquisition involves 30 stores (including the real estate of 22 of those, which are fullyowned, and another 8 rented stores) and 14 gas stations, located in 17 states across Brazil

January 2020, The Carrefour Group had opened its first hypermarket in Uganda, Kampala capital city. The Group is establishing a foothold in this new country through its Partnership with the Majid Al Futtaim Group, which has been partnering Carrefour in more than 25 countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
