Due to growing demand for data, Cisco has acquired Acacia Communications, Inc for approximately $4.5 billion. The Maynard, United States based Acacia will enhance Cisco’s ‘Internet for the Future’ strategy with world class coherent optical solutions for customers.

  • Acacia designs and manufactures high-speed, optical interconnect technologies that allow webscale companies, service providers and data center operators to meet the fast-growing consumer demand for data.
  • Cisco is committed to supporting Acacia’s existing customers around the world as well as new customers that want industry-leading coherent optics, digital signal processing/photonic integrated circuit modules and transceivers for use in networking products and data centers.

The major deals and acquisitions by Cisco are featured below:

Dec 2020: To enhance customer services Cisco announced to acquire IMImobile PLC for approximately $730 million. IMImobile is a leading software and services provider which allow enterprises and organizations to stay constantly connected to their customers through enhanced interactive channels including social, messaging and voice.

Oct 2020: Cisco had completed acquisition of BabbleLabs. California based BabbleLabsÂ’ technology, powered by Artificial Intelligence and ML (Machine Learning), distinguishes human speech from unwanted noise resulting in enhanced speech quality in communications and conferencing applications.

Sep 2020: Cisco announced that its subsidiary Cisco Meraki collaborated with Microsoft to help simplify and support organizations moving workloads to the cloud. The collaboration will allow Cisco customers to establish optimal branch-to-Azure connectivity, regardless of geographical location.

Aug 2020: Cisco had completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes. The San Francisco based ThousandEyes’ internet and cloud intelligence platform expands visibility and insights into the digital delivery of applications and services over the internet and the cloud.

December 2019: Cisco, announced to acquire Australia-based Exablaze, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced network devices. Exablaze offers latest Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology with the required programmability and flexibility for environments where ultra-low-latency and high performance is very important. ExablazeÂ’s FPGA technology were used in next-generation products like switches, network interface cards (NICs), and also in picosecond resolution timing technology.
