Continental in order to expand its Industry 4.0 presence, has acquired a minority stake in Feelit. The Tel Aviv, Israel based start- up Feelit provides cutting-edge predictive maintenance solutions for various industrial equipment and machinery based on proprietary hardware sensors and dedicated algorithms.

  • The start-up has developed a structural sensing technology that is up to 50 times more sensitive than current standard market applications.
  • Feelit uses printed, nanomaterial-based, fully integrated sensors and cloud analytics to enable live, remote feedback on structural and performance changes in equipment.
  • The sensors can be integrated, for example, into battery cooling systems for electric vehicles to optimize battery life and range.

In Oct 2020, Automotive technology company Continental announced a minority investment in California based LiDAR pioneer AEye, Inc.to boost its LiDAR sensor portfolio. Continental will utilize this LiDAR technology and industrialize the sensor to deliver a fully automotive-grade product.

In Sep 2020, due to Coronavirus Pandemic, Continental announced to produce 80,000 Medical Masks a Day in Hanover-Stöcken. These are surgical masks also worn by medical personnel, for example in operating rooms. The need for high-quality protective masks is high. The technology company employs more than 232,000 people worldwide in 59 countries and markets, and they all need masks to perform their daily work during this pandemic.

In Aug 2020, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and technology company Continental are making a rubber supply chain seamlessly electronically traceable – from cultivation in Indonesia and further processing through to tire production.

In Aug 2020, Continental and system supplier aft automotive are setting up a joint venture to manufacture couplings made of high-performance plastics for the for the future of mobility. The partners have signed a relevant agreement to create a 50/50 joint venture. The two companies have already been jointly developing special couplings that connect the cooling circuit or the turbocharger/charge-air cooler with units in the engine compartment since 2016.

May 2020: Continental and the Pioneer Corporation had signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Their integrated infotainment solution means both partners create a holistic user experience that is specially aimed at the Asian market. Continental integrates Pioneer’s entire infotainment subdomain into its high-performance computer for vehicle cockpits as part of the agreement.
