Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and Daimler Truck AG, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer announced the intensification of their existing partnership. The partnership intends to jointly design and develop even more advanced next-generation battery cells and packs for truck specific applications.

  • Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) is a lithium-ion battery manufacturer and developer.
  • CATL will be the supplier of lithium-ion battery packs for the Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul battery-electric truck, which is planned to be ready for series production in 2024. The supply will go beyond 2030
  • The partnership will support different truck applications and flexible compatibility with future e-truck models.

April 2021: To boost the hydrogen-based fuel, Daimler Truck AG and Volvo Group announced a new fuel-cell joint venture cellcentric. The new JV cellcentric, helps to accelerate the use of hydrogen-based fuel cells for long-haul trucks.

March 2021: For the growth of automotive electrification bp agreed to join BMW Group and Daimler Mobility AG. As per deal bp will become a 33.3% partner alongside BMW Group and Daimler Mobility AG in Digital Charging Solutions GmbH (DCS) to make electric vehicle charging more convenient.

Dec 2020: To drive IT transformation in the Automotive Sector Daimler AG announced a long-term strategic partnership with Infosys. The partnership helps Daimler AG to transform its IT operating model and infrastructure landscape across workplace services, service desk, data center, networks and SAP Basis together with Infosys.

Dec 2020: The global truck manufacturer Daimler Truck AG announced to produce and distribute Mercedes-Benz tractors in China in joint venture with Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. As per agreement the joint venture company Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd. (BFDA) will localize new heavy-duty tractor models “Made in China for China”, fully adapted to Chinese customers’ requirements.

Nov 2020: Daimler’s luxury automotive brand Mercedes-Benz announce the local production of the first-ever AMG vehicle in India – the AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé. The new Mercedes GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé comes with a choice of five drive programs: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

Nov 2020: The Volvo Group announced a joint venture agreement with Daimler Truck AG to develop, produce and commercialize fuel-cell systems for use in heavy-duty trucks and other applications. The Volvo Group will acquire 50% of the partnership interests in Daimler Truck Fuel Cell GmbH & Co. KG for approximately $707 milliion.

Aug 2020: The leading battery manufacturer and technology company CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited) and automotive company Mercedes-Benz announced the next stage of their strategic partnership to create cutting-edge battery technology in support of the high-volume electrification of the Mercedes-Benz model portfolio.

July 2020, To fight against the spread of COVID-19, luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has started operation of a production plant for mouth and nose masks at its Sindelfingen plant, in Germany. The fully automatic production line has a daily capacity of more than 100,000 masks.

July 2020: Mercedes-Benz has announced a strategic partnership with the Chinese battery cell manufacturer Farasis Energy Co., Ltd., including taking an equity stake. This is another important step on its journey towards CO2–neutral mobility.

May 2020: Daimler Truck AG signed an agreement with the British technology group Rolls-Royce plc to cooperate on stationary fuel-cell generators as CO2-neutral emergency power generators for safety-critical facilities such as data centers.

April 2020: The world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer Volvo Group announced an agreement to establish a new joint venture with Daimler Truck AG to develop, produce and commercialize fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicle and other applications.

January 2020, Mercedes-Benz AG and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, the German and Chinese automotive groups, announced that they have formally established the global joint venture “smart Automobile Co., Ltd.” for the smart brand after receiving the regulatory approvals.
