United States leading airline Delta Air Lines announced a commitment of $1 billion over the next 10 years on its journey to mitigate all emissions from its global business going forward. The airline announced that it will invest in driving innovation, accelerating the reduction of carbon emissions and waste, advancing clean air travel technologies, and establishing new projects to mitigate the balance of emissions.
The company’s journey to carbon neutrality would boost aviation industries voluntary sustainability efforts. The aviation industry accounts for almost 2% of global carbon dioxide emissions. The innovation, advance new projects, innovative technologies and operational efficiencies will substantially reduce and mitigate emissions and our overall environmental footprint.
The major expansions and acquisitions by Delta Air Lines in last two months are mentioned below:
January 2020: Delta Air Lines announced a multi-year collaboration with IBM by joining the IBM Q Network – to explore the potential capabilities of quantum computing to transform experiences for customers and employees.
January 2020: Delta Air Lines announced the opening of its flagship store on Fliggy, a leading online travel service platform in China. Delta in the new flagship store, provides customers with seamless airline retailing experience and attractive promotions to customers.
December 2019: Delta Air Lines has announced the acquisition of 20% equity stake in LATAM Airlines Group S.A for approximately $1.9 billion, an important milestone toward bringing together the leading airlines in North and South America.
