DENSO Corporation, a global automotive components supplier, has taken a stake in German start-up company PiNTeam Holding GmbH, a leading vehicle-related software developer. With this deal, DENSO will accelerate the development of software that controls in-vehicle electronic control units (ECUs). In April 2019, DENSO had announced that it would invest approximately US$1.6 billion over the three years to support the development of electrified automotive products, systems, and technologies.

The partnership will help DENSO to combine its technologies related to in-vehicle electronic system control with PiNTeam’s embedded software solutions to meet the European markets standard. The partnership will enable both companies to increase their effectiveness and basic software for connected and autonomous vehicle markets.

The next-generation vehicles growing demands for high vehicle performance, especially the advanced driver assistance system, are heavily reliant on complex & embedded software. The number of ECUs per vehicle has steadily risen, such as in luxury cars typically have more than 80 ECUs each. Due to this, basic software will be required by companies to coordinate with different ECUs and control the entire vehicle. DENSO, for safe and secure mobility, cooperate with partners across the globe to develop systems that contribute to the advancement of vehicles, more efficient and sustainable for all customers.
