For faster shipment processing, DHL has relocated its Kansas City operation to a newly constructed, state-of-the-art building. The new facility is more than double the size of the previous location. The new warehouse at 10550 N.W.
Transcon Drive, Kansas City, Missouri, is strategically located near the Kansas City International Airport.

  • The $5M investment in the DHL Express service center increases shipment capacity and enables faster shipment processing, resulting in earlier deliveries for local customers.
  • The expansion adds 43,700 square feet of warehousing and office space, and improves the operation with newly upgraded material handling equipment, along with an extended 46 positions for courier vehicles to load freight around its conveyor system.
  • The larger DHL warehouse can process up to 3,550 pieces per hour, through the use of a cutting-edge conveyor sorting system that features dual-view X-ray package screening for safety and security, as well as image-capture technology and automated bar-code sorting functionality.

The prominent recent expansions and investments by DHL are mentioned below:

March 2021: For the expansion of e-vehicle fleet and to accelerate decarbonisation, Deutsche Post DHL Group is investing approximately USD 8.3 billion over the next ten years. The funds will flow in particular into alternative aviation fuels, the expansion of the zero-emission e-vehicle fleet and climate-neutral buildings.

Feb 2021: For sustainable transportation DHL Freight partnered with Volvo Trucks to speed up the introduction of heavy duty electric trucks. As per deal Volvo’s electric trucks to be used for regional transport in Europe.

Feb 2021: To expand global role in distribution, Deutsche Post DHL Group, has been contracted for the vaccine distribution to Japan. As per agreement DHL will safely store the vaccine at -70 degrees until the final domestic delivery in Japan. With this contract, the logistics expert for air, ocean and road freight expands its global presence in vaccine distribution.

Jan 2021: To expand delivery service DHL eCommerce Solutions, has launched a new integrated solution for the French e-commerce market with Relais Colis. The state-of-the-art delivery services provider Colis Privé catered to B2C e-commerce customers’ needs and is able to deliver parcels directly to the consumers’ households with a quality rate above the market average.

Nov 2020: DHL Express announced to invest approximately $94 million open a newest and largest distribution facility in Japan – the Osaka Distribution Center (ODC) at Sakai city, Osaka-fu.

Nov 2020: Due to expand in e-commerce business in Asia pacific, the DHL Express, announced to invest approximately $890 million between 2020 and 2022 to expand its facilities in key growth markets of Australia, Japan, Hong Kong S.A.R. and South Korea.

Oct 2020: Deutsche Post DHL Group announced that its business division DHL Supply Chain and Manheim Logistics, had formed an exclusive collaboration in a quest to transform the logistics experience for clients and carriers.

Sep 2020: Deutsche Post DHL Group, announced to invest approximately $30 million in 2020 to expand and modernize its operation in the United States. The expansion will create opportunities for approximately 900 new distribution center workers to support its growth.

July 2020: DHL Supply Chain, announced an additional investment of $70 million to strengthen its life sciences and healthcare capabilities in North America. The company will develop additional specialized warehousing infrastructure for its pharmaceutical and medical devices customers.

June 2020: DHL Express, had announced the opening of a new retail shipping store in in the United States. The company owned retail store is located at the Palm Springs Mile Shopping Center at 407 W. 49th St., Hialeah, FL.

March 2020: DHL Supply Chain announced an expanded partnership with autonomous mobile robots (AMR) leader Locus Robotics. The new partnership includes 10 new, nationwide deployments of the Locus AMR solution in 2020. DHL Supply Chain is a part of Deutsche Post DHL Group.

February 2020: DHL Express had expressed its intentions to expand its operations and investments in Egypt. The Egyptian market is one of the largest, and most significant markets for DHL in the region and the expansion will also strengthens Egypt’s position as a logistics hub in the African continent.
