Duke Energy in order to expand its solar energy, the company announced that it has begun construction on two major solar projects in North Carolina to produce nearly 100 megawatts of energy.

  • The two projects includes 69-megawatt (MW) Maiden Creek solar facility and 25-MW Gaston solar facility located on Neal Road in the Gaston County town of Bessemer City.
  • The projects will feature about 400,000 solar panels and generate enough energy to power approximately 20,000 homes and businesses.

In June 2020: Duke Energy announced that Duke Energy Florida (DEF) to construct three new solar power plants, which will provide cleaner, smarter energy solutions to benefit Florida customers.

In May 2020, The Duke Energy Foundation is funding $200,000 in grants to Indiana economic development organizations offering crisis relief to small businesses in the state.

In May 2020, The City of Charlotte has become the first municipality to execute a renewable power agreement under Duke Energy’s Green Source Advantage (GSA) program – further expanding solar energy in North Carolina.

In January 2020, Duke Energy Florida (DEF) announced the locations of its two newest solar power plants which will provide cleaner, smarter energy solutions to benefit Florida customers.
