The leading food company GBfoods has announced the completion of a $52 million Tomato processing factory, in Kebbi State, in Nigeria. The Tomato facility built in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kebbi State Government and the Emirate of Yauri. It is a largest single tomatoes farm in Nigeria.
- The factory is the second largest in Nigeria and the only fully backward integrated plant in ECOWAS.
- When all phases of the project are finished, the factory will be the largest fresh tomatoes processing factory in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- GBfoods has a wide range of quality brands in Nigeria such as Gino, Bama and Jago, under which they manufacture a wide range of quality products that make the daily lives of many African families easier.
In May 2019, GBfoods, announced that it had signed an agreement with CVC Fund V, for the acquisition of the European group Continental Foods. Under the terms of the agreement, GBfoods will acquire 100% of the Continental Foods group, which includes its entire portfolio of culinary local brands with a long heritage such as Liebig, Royco, D&L, Erasco and Blå Band, among others, and its five production facilities that are located in Puurs, Belgium; Le Pontet and Lievin, France; and Lübeck and Kaltenkirchen, Germany.
