The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)consortium of Posco Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. (POSCO), Mitsubishi Corporation and PEC Powercon Sdn. Bhd. selected GE to provide power generation equipment for the 1,200 megawatts (MW) Pulau Indah Power Plant, in Selangor, Malaysia.

  • The plant will be powered by GE’s highly efficient HA technology and it will consist of a two-block combined cycle power plant, featuring a total plant configuration that is modular and cost-effective to install, control and maintain.
  • Additionally, for the Pulau Indah Power Plant project, GE will provide a full spectrum of services solutions for 21 years.
  • For the Pulau Indah Power Plant, GE will provide two blocks of 600 megawatts (MW), each including a GE 9HA.01 gas turbine, an STF-D650 steam turbine, a W88 generator and a Once Through Heat Recovery Steam Generator (OT HRSG).

Nov 2020: GE Healthcare has acquires a Swedish start-up Prismatic Sensors AB, specializing in photon counting detectors, signifying the company’s continued investment in photon counting CT technology.

Oct 2020: GE entered into a new contract with Vietnamese state-owned power utility Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 (EVN GENCO 3) to continue to supply parts and services for its Phu My 2.1 and 4 Power Plants.

July 2020: The power plants and power equipment manufacturer GE Power India Limited (GEPIL) a legal entity of GE Steam Power business in India, had been awarded three contracts for a combined value of $112.57 million to supply its best-in-class air quality control systems (AQCS) solutions in the country. GEPIL will supply AQCS to Hindalco Industries Limited , NTPC Limited for their Feroze Gandhi Unchahar Thermal Power Project and UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.

July 2020: Statkraft, Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy, signed a deal to help further decarbonize the UK’s power sector and deliver a new approach to managing the stability of the grid. Statkraft UK will install GE’s Rotating Stabiliser technology at its stability project at Keith in the northeast of Scotland.

June 2020: GE Powers US Navy’s 1st full-electric power and propulsion ship USS Zumwalt. GE’s Power Conversion business was the designer and provider for the high-voltage system (HV), propulsion drive trains consisting of multiphase converters and Advanced Induction Motors (AIM) for the DDG 1000 class of futuristic destroyers.

May 2020: GE had signed a definitive agreement to sell its Lighting business to Massachusetts-based Savant Systems, Inc., an industry leader in the professional smart home space. GE Lighting’s portfolio includes leading home lighting and innovative smart home solutions. GE Lighting will remain headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, and its more than 700 employees will transfer to Savant upon completion of the transaction.
