#1 – Huntsman to acquire CVC Thermoset Specialties for $300 million
Huntsman Corporation, the leading specialty chemical company announced an agreement to acquire CVC Thermoset Specialties, North American specialty chemical manufacturer for $300 million. CVC Thermoset is serving industrial composites, adhesives and coatings markets across the world. CVC Thermoset Specialties is part of Emerald Performance Materials LLC. The deal with CVC Thermoset Specialties brings valuable complementary technology to Huntsman’s Advanced Materials portfolio and the merger will make epoxy-based materials tougher, stronger, and more durable. #2 – H.B. Fuller expands in Japan with new adhesives business
H.B. Fuller Company, a Minnesota based adhesives manufacturing company has established H.B. Fuller Japan G.K. to strengthen its Engineering Adhesive (E.A.) businesses in Japan by focusing on high-performance adhesives, including reactive adhesive chemistries and applications. H.B. Fuller serves renewable energies, electronics, transportation, aerospace, general industry, and medical industries all over the world.
#3 – Sika completes the acquisition of Parex
Switzerland based Sika AG, has completed the acquisition of a leading mortar manufacturer Parex. With the acquisition of the Parex, Sika will expand its product portfolio for the building finishing market, further strengthening its world-leading position in construction chemicals. Parex offers a wide range of products, includes facade mortars, tile adhesives, and waterproofing mortars. The company is present in around 23 countries, with key positions in 8 core markets, and operates more than 74 plants around the world.
Sika also acquired silicone sealants and adhesives manufacturer Crevo-Hengxin, in other transactions. China-based Crevo-Hengxin provides a broad range of silicone products used for insulated glass, facades, fenestration, interior finishing, and other sealing and bonding applications.
#4 – Arsenal Capital’s Meridian Adhesives has acquired Epoxies
Meridian Adhesives, a manufacturer of high-value adhesives and sealant technologies, has announced the acquisition of Epoxies, a leading resin formulator of epoxies, urethanes, and silicones. Arsenal Capital Partners created Meridian in 2018. Epoxies Etc. is a leading manufacturer and formulator of specialty epoxies, urethanes, silicones, and U.V. curable systems.
#5 – PPG invests in automotive adhesives and sealants in Ohio
PPG, a global paint and coating firm, has announced an investment in a 2,100-square-foot automotive adhesives and sealants facility in Cleveland, Ohio, the USA. The company will develop next-generation coatings for lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs used in battery-electric and autonomous vehicles.
