Bakery product leader Grupo Bimbo announced a joint venture with Kazakhstan based Food Town through its subsidiary Bimbo QSR to expand its operation in the country. Food Town, is an exclusive buns supplier and franchisee of McDonald’s in Kazakhstan.
Grupo Bimbo holds 51% of newly joint venture, strengthening the manufacturing footprint of Bimbo QSR and aligns its relationship with the Quick Service Restaurants clients in Central Asia. Kazakhstan operation broadens Grupo Bimbo’s global presence to around 33 countries of the world.
In January 2020, Conagra Brands had announced that it has sold Lender’s Bagels and its Mattoon bagel factory to Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc., a business unit of Mexico City-based Grupo Bimbo. Earlier, in November 2019, Grupo Bimbo announced an investment of $146 million to expand its sustainable distribution fleet in Mexico. The company has committed to adding 4,000 electric distribution vehicles in Mexico over the next four years.
