To expand R&D activity in Ireland, Huawei announced that it would create more than 110 new jobs by the end of 2022. The company will invest approximately $98 million in Irish research and development (R&D) over the next two years to support its growing business in Ireland.

  • The new jobs will meet sustained growing demand for Huawei’s products and services across its sales, R&D, IT development and in its consumer division.
  • The jobs will be mainly based in its Dublin headquarters and across operations in Cork and Athlone.

The prominent deals and partnerships by Huawei are featured below:

Dec 2020: Shenyang Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIACAS) and Huawei unveiled their “5G+Industrial Network” Joint Innovation Center. Both parties will leverage their strengths and cooperate with outstanding industry partners, to further application scenarios, technological research, standards development, prototype verification, and application popularization for the “5G+Industrial Network”. With its wide adoption ramping up, 5G is now driving the digitization of diverse industries, among which the manufacturing industry is a leading one.

Oct 2020: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) had entered into a partnership with Huawei to launch the National AI Capability Development Program as part of its efforts to establish the Kingdom among the world’s leading economies in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).

Sep 2020: Sunline and Huawei jointly released the Digital Loan One Box Solution — a global contactless solution for financial services. This solution will be rolled out across countries and regions, such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa, where financial inclusiveness is urgently necessary.

Sep 2020: Huawei and Intel jointly launched the next-generation FusionServer Pro 2488H V6 intelligent server. The FusionServer Pro 2488H V6 houses four 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors in a 2U space, and supports the Intel® Optane™ persistent memory (PMem) 200 series. The server unleashes up to 560 TFLOPS computing power for AI inference and training, fast-tracking the digital transformation of industries.

July 2020: rain, South Africa’s data-only mobile network launched its first Standalone 5G (SA 5G) network powered by Huawei in the country. This is the first commercial standalone 5G network in Africa. rain’s Standalone 5G is currently available in Cape Town covering areas including Sea Point in Cape Town, Claremont, Goodwood, Bellville, Durbanville, and Cape Town City Centre.
