The global seafood leader Iceland Seafood has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Mondi Group AB to acquire an Irish seafood processing company Carrs & Sons Seafood Limited Ltd, specialized in high quality smoked salmon production.
- The proposed acquisition of Carrs & Sons is a great fit Oceanpath operation and would strengthen the company position the Irish seafood market.
- Carrs & Sons operates a production facility in Killala, focused on smoked salmon production with sales predominantly to retail.
- Carrs & Sons products are sold both under retailers private label and branded, significant part of the sales are under the Nolan Seafoods brand which is a leading brand for smoked salmon in Ireland.
In March 2020, Iceland Seafood invested to enhance processing and cold store capacity in the United Kingdom and merged its operation in United Kingdom into one legal entity. Total investment in property and minority shares of about £8-9m.
In February 2020, Iceland Seafood International had completed the acquisition of Elba Seafood ehf, the holding company of Elba S.L. in Spain. The acquisition of Elba Seafood ehf had been completed accordance with the Share Purchase Agreement which was signed in November 2019.
In September 2019, Iceland Seafood International hf completes the acquisition of Solo Seafood ehf. The transaction creates an integrated European industry powerhouse with excellent future growth prospects across the whole group.
