Brazilian food organisation JBS SA announced that its U.S. subsidiary JBS USA has plans to acquire Empire Packing Co. for $238 million. The deal announced in a securities filing, includes Memphis, Tennessee-based Empire’s five processing facilities and retail products branded as Ledbetter. The transaction also includes processing facilities located in Denver; Cincinnati and Mason, Ohio; Memphis; and Olympia, Washington.

The major expansions and investments by JBS are mentioned below:

February 2020: Plumrose USA, a subsidiary JBS USA has announced to build a new facility in Moberly to produce fully-cooked bacon. JBS new factory is expected to create 200 new jobs for locals.

December 2019: JBS USA announced that it has signed an agreement with family-owned J&B Group to acquire a meat processing plant located in Pipestone, U.S. state of Minnesota. The plant, produces fresh and frozen ground beef and steaks.

May 2019: JBS USA, announced a $95 million expansion project at its Grand Island, Nebraska, beef production facility. The expansion project includes new, improved animal handling facilities, a state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled harvest floor and facility reconfiguration designed to improve team member experience, food safety and product quality.
