METRO Inc. is a leading food and pharmacy retailer has announced that it will invest around $420 million over five years in the construction of a new, automated distribution centre for fresh and frozen products in Terrebonne, Quebec , Canada. The company will also expands its dairy products distribution centre in Laval, Canada.

METRO’s new Terrebonne distribution centre schedule to open in 2023, and the expansion of the Laval distribution centre will be completed by 2024. The company’s produce and dairy products distribution centre in Laval will be expanded by 50,000 square feet to handle an increased volume of fruits and vegetables. For new distribution centre METRO has signed an agreement with WITRON, an international leader in food distribution automation.

The major expansions and deals by METRO are featured below:

February 2020: METRO announced the opening of new Metro Plus in Lachine. The new 39,000 ft2 Metro Plus designed to provide customers with an optimal shopping experience and give products the importance they deserve.

December 2019: METRO announced that it is selling MissFresh to Cook it, another Montreal-based ready-to-cook meal company.

September 2019: METRO announced the modernization of its Ontario distribution network, with construction of the new, semi-automated Fresh Distribution Centre at 17 Vickers Road.
