The global chemical company Mitsui Chemicals, Inc has launched a joint research project Nagaoka University of Technology, National University Corporation. The joint research will promote the recycling of plastic waste.
- Plastic waste often includes varying states of the material, meaning that when heat is applied for material recycling, the melted plastic is uneven in terms of fluidity.
- The new joint development project, Mitsui Chemicals aims over the course of the next three years to develop technology that will facilitate in-line measurement and control for the melted plastics fluidity, which will in turn help to stabilize the quality of the regenerated plastic.
In July 2020: In effort to limit novel coronavirus infection the Mitsui Chemicals announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Sunrex Industry Co. Ltd. to expand its production facilities for TEKNOROTE mask nose clamps.
In May 2020: Mitsui Chemicals, had begun working on the development of a new, reusable 3D-printed mask with Nagoya University and a spinoff venture from Nagoya University. The new masks key feature is the fact that it not only filters out viral particles but also can be reused.
In March 2020: Mitsui Chemicals, had expanded its production facilities for meltblown nonwovens at wholly owned subsidiary Sunrex Industry Co., Ltd., starting operations at the new facilities here this January. The move comes as an effort to respond to growing demand for industrial-use meltblown nonwovens, and will increase the Mitsui Chemicals Groups overall production capacity for these materials by 50 percent.
In August 2019: Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. announced that it had entered into a materials sector-based partnership agreement with Plug and Play, LLC (Founder & CEO: Saeed Amidi), a Silicon Valley-based firm that supports the growth of startups with innovative technologies and ideas.
