The BMW Groups Rolls-Royce division has announced approximately $13.9 million investment at its MTU power generation manufacturing facility in Mankato, Minnesota, USA. The expansion will add a new research and development building at facility and it will create 20 new manufacturing positions.
- The project is a result of growth in the market 2019 was a record year for the Mankato facility and demand for increased product offerings resulting in the need for updated facilities, equipment and processes to safely handle customer requirements.
- The main portion of the Mankato expansion will be the addition of 28,000-sq-ft to the facility’s existing assembly hall, allowing for additional assembly lines, enhanced product testing capabilities.

June 2020: BMW Group in joint venture with Great Wall Motors (GWM) started construction of Spotlight Automotive facility in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province in China. Spotlight Automotive is a joint venture established by GWM and BMW Group.
May 2020: The worlds leading commercial vehicle manufacturers Daimler Truck AG signed an agreement with the British technology group Rolls-Royce plc to cooperate on stationary fuel-cell generators as CO2-neutral emergency power generators for safety-critical facilities such as data centers.
April 2020: BMW will begin the production of face masks to help protect its own staff and the public against the spread of the new coronavirus. The company will be able to produce several hundred thousand masks per day.
March 2020: The future mobility leader BMW Group announced an investment of approximately $34 billion in research and development of future mobility by 2025. The company is embracing the transformation of the automotive industry with great confidence and investing heavily on innovation for the benefit of its customers.
December 2019: BMW Group announced an investment of $441 million at its Dingolfing vehicle plant for the production of the BMW iNEXT in China. The investment will help the plant to produce the right mix of fully-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and models with combustion engines to suit demand on a single assembly line. The Group will launch BMW iNEXT in 2021. The BMW iNEXT will become the Dingolfing plants first pure battery-electric vehicle from 2021.
