Sage Automotive Interiors, the leading automotive interior material provider announced an agreement to acquire Adient’s automotive fabric business for approximately $175 million. The transaction will help Sage Automotive to expand capacity and capability for automotive interior products for the European markets.

The company has a number of textile facilities in Europe, suited to supply the automotive cut and sew facilities in Central and Eastern Europe. Sage Automotive Interiors is a Tokyo based Asahi Kasei company.

The major acquisitions and expansions by Asahi Kasei are featured below:

March 2020: Asahi Kasei Corp. has announced the acquisition of North Carolina based Veloxis Pharmaceuticals Inc.  After the compilation of deal Veloxis became a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of Asahi Kasei.

December 2019: Asahi Kasei America has announced the opening of Novi Office in Novi, Michigan, to strengthen its marketing function mainly in the automotive field in North America. In North America, the company manufactures and sells car interior materials, compound resins, and battery separators, and provides technical support to customers in the automotive industry.

October 2019: Asahi Kasei Medical has announced the acquisition of Virusure Forschung und Entwicklung GmbH (ViruSure), an Austrian provider of biosafety testing services.

September 2019: Asahi Kasei Medical has completed the construction of a new plant in Nobeoka, Miyazaki, Japan for the spinning of cellulose hollow-fiber membranes for Planova virus removal filters.
