In order to boost presence in Italy, Siemens Gamesa sign agreements with several customers to install four wind farm totalling 97 MW across the country. The company has signed two contracts with Alerion Clean Power, which include three wind farms in the Puglia region – Tre Confini, La Ficora and Cerignola.

  • Siemens Gamesa currently has over 2 GW of installed capacity in the country.
    • The wind farm will be equipped with 18 SG 3.4-132 turbines for a total capacity of 62 MW.
  • These wind farms are scheduled to be commissioned in mid-2022 and the project includes a service agreement.

The major deals and investments by Siemens are mentioned below:

Feb 2021: ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has selected Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as the preferred bidder to supply and install offshore wind turbines for its East Anglia Hub programme.

Oct 2020: Siemens Gamesa has closed the largest order for its 5.X platform with a new deal to supply 372 MW of the SG 5.8-170 turbine for the Björnberget project in Sweden.

Aug 2020: Indian renewable energy company Adani Green Energy a subsidiary of Adani Group, has strengthen its partnership with Siemens Gamesa for one of the largest wind power projects in India. As per agreement Siemens Gamesa will deliver 215 SG 2.2-122 wind turbines, totalling 473 MW wind power project.

July 2020: Siemens Gamesa has scored a double order, including one for the largest nearshore wind farm in Vietnam. The two deals, with 75 MW and 90 MW at the Tan Thuan and Thai Hoa wind farms respectively, will use the SG 5.0-145 turbines.

June 2020: Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has received an order for 100 units of its new SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines for innogy’s 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.

June 2020: Total, a leading energy group, has signed an agreement with Siemens Gas and Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of leading technology company Siemens AG to advance new concepts for green liquified natural gas (LNG) production.

May 2020: Siemens Gas and Power, is a wholly owned subsidiary of leading technology company Siemens AG, was awarded a contract from CCZ JV to supply three cryogenic boil-off gas (BOG) compressor trains for the Golden Pass LNG export terminal in Sabine Pass, Texas, USA.

April 2020: The global clean energy leader Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has announced the completion of acquisition of all shares in Ria Blades, S.A., which owns and operates the onshore wind turbine blade production plant in Vagos, Portugal. Siemens Gamesa also acquired other assets from Senvion to operate the facility.

March 2020: Siemens Gamesa announced that it will supply 25 SG 4.5-145 wind turbines for one of the Vietnam’s largest wind farms. Vietnam has one of the best wind resources in Southeast Asian region.

February 2020: Siemens AG will acquire all the shares of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) held by Iberdrola S.A. for approximately $1.2 billion. The three companies (Iberdrola, Siemens, and SGRE) have signed a cooperation agreement for specific projects related to wind power generation and to improve the distribution grid.

January 2020: Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy completed the acquisition of Senvion’s European Service assets and Intellectual Property (IP). The deal strengthen the company’s competitive position in Europe by adding approximately 9.0 GW serviced fleet and operations in 13 countries.

January 2020: Siemens AG signed an agreement with Ghana Grid Co. to upgrade the country’s electricity grid. Siemens will help to improve the Ghana’s ability to supply other West African nations, including Burkina Faso, Togo, and Benin.
