Illinois based US Foods Holding Corp. has announced an agreement to acquire Smart Foodservice Warehouse Stores from funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, for approximately $970 million.

Smart Foodservice was founded in 1955 at greater Portland, Oregon, the USA. It operates about 70 small-format cash and carry stores across California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Montana that serve small and mid-sized restaurants and other food business customers with a broad assortment of products. The company has approximately 900 employees.

In September 2019, US Foods Holding Corp. had announced the acquisition of SGA’s Food Group of Companies, a leading foodservice distributor with a diverse customer base in the West and Northwest regions of the country for $1.8 billion.

In June 2019, US Foods Holding Corp. had announced the construction of a 355,000-square-foot distribution center in McClellan, California. The new facility is expected to open at the end of 2020 and will support the company’s commitment to helping restaurant and food service operators across the Northern California region.
