The worldwide manufacturing and engineering firm Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) signed an agreement with renewable energy leader Vestas Wind Systems A/S to expand their partnership in sustainable energy.

  • The strengthened partnership entails that Vestas will acquire MHI’s shares in the MHI Vestas Offshore Wind (MVOW) joint venture, and MHI will acquire 2.5 percent in Vestas and be nominated to a seat in Vestas’ Board of Directors
    • A new offshore wind turbine platform will also be imminently introduced to improve efficiency and drive the levelised cost of energy further down.
  • Vestas makes an emphatic long-term move in offshore wind energy to become a leading player in offshore wind by 2025 and to expand the two companies’ overall leadership in sustainable energy.

The major orders and deals by Vestas are featured below:

Sep 2020: The leading Greek renewable energy leader TERNA ENERGY has placed a 144 MW order to Vestas for the Karystia wind project toin the prefecture of Evia, Greece. The contract includes the supply and installation of 40 V105-3.45 MW wind turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode.

Aug 2020: The wind energy leader Vestas had received a 409 MW order from the joint venture between Votorantim Energia and the Canadian fund CPP Investments in Brazil. Vestas will provide wind turbines for the projects Ventos do Piauí II and Ventos do Piauí III, in Serra do Inácio, in the state of Piauí, in Brazil

May 2020: Vestas has secured its largest order in Vietnam to date for a total of 144 MW for the three wind parks Lien Lap, Phong Huy, and Phong Nguyen in the Qu?ng Tr? Province. The new order takes Vestas’ 2020 order intake in Vietnam to over 300 MW.

May 2020: The wind turbine leader Vestas had secured new order from Vietnam for two projects totalling 64 MW located in complex mountainous terrain in Quang Tri province. With this new order, the company has closed more than 160 MW of deals in Vietnam in 2020.

March 2020, Vestas had secured an order from Green Investment Group Limited, a specialist developer, sponsor and investor and part of the Macquarie Group for the 79.8 MW wind project in Norway.

March 2020, Vestas had received an order for a project in China that includes the supply of V120-2.2 MW wind turbines as well as a 5-year Active Output Management 4000(AOM 4000) service agreement. The order brings Vestas’ total order intake in China up to more than 600 MW within a period of three months.

February 2020, Vestas had secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order for the 108 MW Energía Sierra Juárez II wind park, to be located in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico.
