In order to accelerate manufacturing and make supply chain more efficient, Walmart strengthens its commitment with an additional $350 billion investment through 2030 and plans to double headcount in Anderson over the next two years.

  • Walmart also announce “American Lighthouses,” a collaborative program in strategic regions of the country.
  • Techtronic Industries or “TTI” – that employs more than 1,500 people and assembles products that are sold in Walmart stores and on Walmart.com.
    • Walmart has identified six priority categories to focus on: plastics; textiles; small electrical appliances; food processing; pharmaceutical and medical supplies; and Goods Not For Resale (GNFR).

The prominent deals and expansions by Walmart are featured below:

Nov 2020: The leading equity investment company KKR & Co. Inc. and e commerce firm Rakuten, Inc., announced to purchase a majority stake in Seiyu GK, from global retail company Walmart Inc for approximately $1.6 billion. The deal helps in digital transformation of Japanese Retail.

July 2020: WellBe provider HandsFree Health announced that it signed an agreement with e-commerce leader Walmart. As per agreement HandsFree Health’s WellBe smart speaker is being shipped nationwide through Walmart’s e-commerce site.

July 2020: India’s leading e-commerce group the Flipkart has announced the launch of Flipkart Wholesale. The new digital marketplace Flipkart Wholesale will transform India’s retail ecosystem. Flipkart also announced that it acquires 100% interest in Wal-Mart India Private Limited, which operates the Best Price wholesale business.

May 2020: Walmart announced its partnership with thredUP, to enters fashion resale market. The deal helps in expanding assortment of quality, on-trend and accessible fashions for modern customers.

January 2020: Walmart announced the opening of a case-ready facility facility in Thomasville, GA, the USA. The new facility is part of the company’s new Angus beef supply chain.
